We are here to work with you. We encourage Harvard librarians and archivists in particular, as well as all members of the Harvard community seeking advice about collections care, conservation, or preservation reformatting (digitization, microfilming, photography) to contact any of our program officers.
Senior Preservation Program Officer, Weissman Preservation Center
Through consulting, education and training, research, and project coordination, Brenda Bernier provides expert preservation advice and assistance in a manner that extends the in-house capabilities of the libraries in harmony with their varying nature, scope, and goals. Contact Brenda to discuss:
- emergency preparedness and response,
- care and handling of library materials,
- environmental monitoring, and
- techniques in and coordination of collections condition surveys.
Program Officer for Audiovisual Materials, Weissman Preservation Center
Elizabeth Walters provides advice about and assistance with the management of audiovisual library materials. She also can conduct an item-by-item survey of unique and rare audiovisual objects to determine current condition and to aid in selection for preservation action. Contact Elizabeth to discuss:
- care and handling of AV materials, and
- surveying unique and rare AV collections.
HCL Librarian for Collections Digitization
Maggie Hale facilitates project nomination, planning, and coordination for digitization projects that draw from the collections of the Harvard College Library. Maggie also serves as a primary community liaison for HCL Imaging Services, the major provider of text and image digitization services for the Harvard Libraries.
