Security
Good security methods can protect library materials from mutilation or theft without unduly hampering the use of collections. Most security measures are beyond the scope of the preservation program, but library materials themselves can be made more secure.
The Weissman Preservation Center (Harvard University Library) and Conservation Services (Harvard College Library) can advise on appropriate storage options, including enclosures for individual items or groups of items, shelving for whole collections, and preparation of materials for off-site storage at the Harvard Depository.
These services are free-of-charge to the Harvard University Library community.
