Storage
Good storage containers and furniture can provide an extra measure of protection for all library collections. Proper containers cushion the effects of day-to-day wear and provide an extra layer of protection against water damage. Suitable shelf and drawer systems keep materials in proper alignment and also provide a measure of protection from water damage.
The Weissman Preservation Center (Harvard University Library) and Conservation Services (Harvard College Library) can advise on appropriate storage options, including enclosures for individual items or groups of items, shelving for whole collections, and preparation of materials for off-site storage at the Harvard Depository.
These services are free-of-charge to the Harvard University Library community.
