Collection Contributors
Daguerreotypes at Harvard had its genesis in a 1995 grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, which enabled Harvard to make important advances toward preserving and enhancing access to daguerreotypes in the University's library and museum collections. A multi-year grant awarded in 2005 by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation supported further scientific study of the images, conservation treatment, and documentation. Daguerreotypes at Harvard was produced through the Photograph Conservation Program of the Weissman Preservation Center in collaboration with the Virtual Collections Service of the Office for Information Systems in the Harvard University Library. The development of Daguerreotypes at Harvard was made possible in part by the generous support of Paul M. and Harriet L. Weissman and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
