American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC)
AIC is a national organization whose members are preservation and conservation professionals. The AIC web site contains useful information for both members and the general public. Subjects include disaster recovery, caring for your treasures, grant information, and selecting and working with a conservator.
Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR)
CLIR's mission to expand access to information, however recorded and preserved, as a public good, includes promoting preservation. This website contains the full text of numerous excellent publications about preservation policy, planning, and research.
Conservation OnLine (CoOL)

CoOL, a project of the Preservation Department of the Stanford University Libraries, covers topics related to the conservation and preservation of library and museum collections. The content is submitted from a variety of sources, and the centerpiece of the site is an extensive, fully-searchable database of the entire CoOL document library. CoOL also contains links to various preservation organizations, reports, bibliographics, and mailing lists.

Heritage Preservation is a national nonprofit organization that works to save the objects of our shared and individual pasts. This website contains information about it programs: Conservation Assessment Program (CAP), Heritage Emergency National Task Force, Heritage Health Index, Save Outdoor Sculpture!, and Rescue Public Murals.
Independent Media Arts Preservation (IMAP)
Although IMAP focuses on electronic media, it is concerned with the preservation of time-based, non-commercial video and audio independent media. In addition to information about the organization and its activities, this website includes "Preservation 101," a primer about all aspects of media preservation.
Image Permanence Institute (IPI)

IPI, a department of the Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, is a nonprofit laboratory devoted to scientific research in the preservation of visual and other forms of recorded information. This website offers both publications and downloadable tools about environmental monitoring and preservation of photo and media collections.
International Federation of Library Associations, Core Activity on Preservation and Conservation (IFLA PAC)
IFLA (PAC) was launched in 1986 to focus international efforts on issues of preservation and to initiate worldwide cooperation for the preservation of library materials. It supports more than a dozen regional centers located throughout the world.
Library of Congress Preservation Directorate
This site presents information about the LC preservation programs and services, as well as general preservation information about collections care, emergency preparedness, preservation standards, research and testing, and preservation education.
Moving Image Collections (MIC, pronounced mike)
MIC is a self-described window to discovery of the world's moving images, through a catalog of moving image collections, a directory of moving image archives, and portals tailored to meet the needs of general users, archivists and science educators. The archivists' portal contains short explanations of key issues in moving image preservation.
Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC)
In addition to describing NEDCC's mission and services, this site points to a broad range of preservation-related resources. These include: preservation funding opportunities, frequently-asked preservation questions, NEDCC publications, and internet resources that include materials of interest to institutions and individuals concerned with the preservation of paper-based collections.
